You First is a short story about two young gay guys who have sex on a regular basis. Luke is 23 years old and the submissive one, Justin is 18 years old and the dominant one. Justin always makes sure that Luke comes first when they have sex. And that does bother Luke a lot because he’s the more experienced one and he should be able to outlast the younger guy, he thinks. It’s becoming a problem for him and he fights his orgasms so hard that Justin feels rejected and concludes that Luke wants to break up with him.

This story is a nice quickie to read. The sex scenes are pretty hot, although they are mostly written from the point of view of an orgasm-fighting-Luke. I would’ve liked a switching perspective and a little bit more pleasure written into these scenes. The characters remain a little bit two-dimensional, because Kim Dare writes mostly about their actions and less about their emotions. This gets better during the breakup, but again hardly from Justin’s perspective. I missed that. I also got the feeling that Luke’s and Justin’s story just got started when it ended. I mean, their relationship just got interesting when they finally started to share their thoughts with each other. They only start dating when the story ends. It’s the beginning point of their feelings growing into love, and many issues (of more importance than who comes first) have yet to come. Issues that I would love to read about. So, this story was too short for me, I would’ve liked it to continue a little longer. Still it’s a enjoyable M/M quickie, with a little bit of D/s in it. I rate it with 3 stars.
