Review of Seducing Simon by Maya Banks

Seducing_simonSeducing Simon is a very well written and totally sweet romance. When I bought it I was under the assumption that it was an erotic romance, but it wasn’t. It was my own sloppiness that caused this misunderstanding, but I don’t mind reading a contemporary romance once in a while, so it was fine. And I couldn’t have chosen a better book for the occasion.
Because this novel was really a great read: full of suspense, very nice characters and hot firemen (which is definitely a bonus), lots of heartbreaking and sweet emotions, and besides the tender moments enough drama. So I liked it a lot and couldn’t put it down when it was time to go to sleep.
I did love the setting of four friends living in one house together. And the other characters did get to play a good part in the story as well. They weren’t just there for decoration but added something to the plot.
And I do like the friends-falling-in-love type of plot a lot. Besides all that, Maya Banks just knows how to tell a story that’ll get to you. Her great dialogues are contributing to that.
I did of course miss the hot love scenes ;-) and if it weren’t for that I would’ve rated this story with 5 stars instead of 4 stars.

Back Blurb: One fateful night, Toni Langston seduces her best friend, the guy she’s been in love with forever. Two problems—he doesn’t remember a thing that happened and now she’s pregnant.
Toni Langston has been in love with Simon, her best friend, for years. The night Simon breaks up with his long time girlfriend, he and Toni make love. Toni is devastated and humiliated when, in the heat of the moment, he calls her by his girlfriend’s name. The next morning, Simon remembers nothing of the previous night and Toni is only too relieved not to remind him.
Two months later, she discovers she’s pregnant. She wants Simon to love her, apart from any obligation he might feel because of the baby. So she embarks on a quest to seduce her best friend, to make him see her as more than a little sister, to make him love her as much as she loves him. It works. Maybe too well. Now when things are perfect, she faces telling him of the secret she’s kept.
