The Back Blurb:
Sexy rock singer Luke Cantrell, has everything going for him. He parties hard and has no shortage of bed partners. Except he can’t have the one thing he truly wants...
The memory of his golden-haired boyhood friend haunts Luke’s dreams, and no matter how many men or women vie to be in his bed, only one man fuels his passion or can touch his heart. Luke couldn’t wait to get out of Dodge when he was eighteen, but Texas rancher, Sullivan “Sully” Vance, was Luke’s best friend all through school even though they came from different sides of the track and wanted different futures. Luke was always afraid he’d ruin his friendship if he told Sully how he truly felt.
Unable to bear the pain and ache of loneliness any longer, Luke returns to the one place in Texas where his best memories were rooted. Will Sully understand if Luke finally reveals the truth? Or will he lose his friendship forever? After all these years, it’s a gamble he finally has to take in an all-or-nothing game of love.

Another book I read last year and a really short review to catch up...

Sully’s Heart is not a bad read at all, although I thought the beginning was a bit weird and even farfetched. The focus is on Luke throughout the whole story. Living the life of a rock star and fucking with strangers he’s not very happy, being a closeted gay and longing for his old friend Sully. Via a detour, with a rather out of the blue BDSM session with another stranger, Luke comes to the conclusion that he needs to go back to his home town and confront his father with his sexual preference and maybe see Sully. From that point on, the story was a rather enjoyable read about two old friends getting reacquainted and finally confessing their love, than facing a future and the dilemma of how to make it work.
It became a sweet romance and I was treated at a few good love scenes with some light bondage involved. But the first part of the story makes that I can’t rate it with more than 3.5 stars. I liked it but not all of it…

  2. @Sparklybearsy: When you're looking for some good books for the M/M challenge I can recommend you a few 5 star reads for me:
    * Warrior’s Cross by Madeleine Urban & Abigail Roux
    * The One That Got Away by Madeleine Urban & Rhianne Aile
    * Faith & Fidelity by Tere Michaels
I haven't reviewed them yet, but I will... eventually :)

  3. Huh. Sounds like one I'd pick up if it turns out to be one of the Amber Quill Press Daily Deals, but not otherwise.

  4. I find that while I read more m/m romances I definitely have a preference. Focusing on the promiscuity side of m/m just doesn't do it for me. I read another one like that this past weekend where the hero didn't know if the other hero liked him therefore he went to a sex club etc etc. I find that this is a major tun off for me in the m/m genre. Probably why I really like LB Gregg and Tessa Caderas {sp?) b/c their books are more like stories and I connect with the characters instantly.

    Great review hon!

  7. This somehow doesn't make my boot float :S While I do love me a bit of BDSM and two guys finally realizing they're meant for each other...I just feel no spark to go and buy it. I can't have 'em all can't I? LOL

  8. I am glad you enjoyed the book, even if those first few chapters weren't as good as the rest. Been there too.

  9. @Chris: It's 3.75 at the moment with a 25% discount. I'm still not sure if it's worth it though...

@Smokinhot: I'm with you on that! But in Luke's defence, he wasn't in a relationship with Sully or never had been. After he found out Sully was gay too, he stayed faithful to him.

@Cecile: Thanks, sweetie! Hope you had a great weekend too :)

  11. @Lily: Good to know it wasn't just me who didn't like the first chapters! Thanks :)

@Leontine: I sometimes feel relieved when I read a review that doesn't make me wanna add another book to my TBB list! I recognize that in your comment :)

@Blodeuedd: Thanks, I think we all have that once in a while. They can't all be perfect from cover to cover, can they?
