The 100+ Reading Challenge

I decided yesterday to join the 100+ Reading Challenge hosted by J. Kaye. It will be my fourth challenge for 2010, besides the Erotic Romance, the Contemporary Romance and the M/M Romance challenges I joined earlier. The 100+ challenge will be a good way for me to keep track of all the books I read for the different challenges and list them in one view. And it will be a real challenge of course to read that many books!

I'm actually looking for one more challenge for 2010 that will help me to read more of the paranormal romance genre... Do you have any suggestions for a good one?
The 2010 DIK Book Reading Challenge is on my radar too, but it gives me too much opportunity to skip the paranormal romances and I really want to challenge myself with that genre... Doesn't mean I won't do the DIK challenge as well though...

The rules for the 100+ Reading Challenge are:
1. The goal is to read 100 or more books. Anyone can join. You don't need a blog to participate.
2. Audio, Re-reads, eBooks, YA, Manga, Graphic Novels, Library books, Novellas, Young Reader, Nonfiction – as long as the book has an ISBN or equivalent or can be purchased as such, the book counts.
What doesn't count: Individual short stories or individual books in the Bible.
3. No need to list your books in advance. You may select books as you go. Even if you list them now, you can change the list if needed.
4. Crossovers from other reading challenges count.
5. Challenge begins January 1st thru December, 2010. Books started before the 1st do not count.
6. You can sign up at J. Kaye's Book Blog.

  1. You're so courageous Janna, this challenge is my monster challenge as in that I've got no clue if I'll make it to a hundred reads, let alone cross that number. Have fun with it Janna and i look forward to seeing you read your way to the finish line :)

  2. Well, I don't know if it has anything to do with courage... It's not if anyone is going to spank me if I don't make it, is it? :) Than again, I might even like that ;)
My goodreads lists told me I read over a 100 books since August 2009, but that included the short stories too... We'll see if I make it to the finish line :) Thanks for cheering me on, hon!

  3. I meant: 'It's not AS if anyone...' of course *sigh*

  4. AAhhh, secret fantasies revealed *wink* Challenges are meant to be fun, I know, but a hundred books o-0 I so don't know if I personally would reach the hundred marker *eek*

PS: Typo's are a frequent thing with me too and i got the gist of it ;)

PPS: I grabbed your button ;)

  5. LOL! It will be fun :D
    Thanks for grabbing! ;)

  6. If you are going to start paranormal romances, then be sure to give J.R. Ward a try. The first book is Dark Lover. She is a genius!

  7. I can hook you up with paranormal m/m recs that might be on the DIK list, too. :D

  8. Do you like YA at all? If so, I have some FANTASTIC paranormal YA suggestions for you. :)

  9. @Samantha: Welcome to my place, girl! Thanks for the tip, I'll be looking into it :)

@Chris: Your recs have not disappointed me so far... and maybe paranormal is easier to take when it's m/m! When the titles are on the DIK list it would even be better :)

@Bronwyn: ehm... haven't really tried it yet... I have this idea that YA will not be smutty enough for my inner naughty girl ;)
But when you have 'FANTASTIC' recs I probably can't resist them... :)

  10. You have a great starter list there. I've read a couple of them and they are gerat. Good luck with your challenge. :)

TA Chase has a couple paranormal. I love ALL of his books. Carol Lynne has one called GHOSTS OF ALCATREZ that is REALLY good. :)

  11. Paranormal m/m from the DIK list:

Jenre: Camp Hell Jordan Castillo Price (you would need to read the rest of the PsyCop books first, of course)

Jessewave: (I haven't read either of these, so...) Soul Mates: Secrets by Jourdan Lane & Draegan Lords by M.L.Rhodes

Paranormal m/m I'd recommend: PsyCop was fabulous!
The With or Without series by JL Langley was very, very good - highly recommended.
Immortality Is the Suck by AM Riley.
    Hemovore by Jordan Castillo Price
Change of Heart by Mary Calmes
The Bay City Paranormal Investigations series by Ally Blue
    Notturno by ZA Maxfield
Feral and Marked by Joely Skye

  12. @Jambrea: Thanks :) I've written your suggestions down and will check them out. Haven't you written any paranormal romances? ;)

@Chris: Thanks again, this is great! Ehm, how many books are there in this PsyCop series... I'll go check it out, sounds interesting. Seems that there are enough paranormal books on the DIK list!

    ReplyDelete
  13. There are 5 books (so far!) in PsyCop, plus some freebie short stories. The freebie that Tam reviewed takes place between books 3 and 4 and won't make much sense before that!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Okay, I better start with Among the Living than. I just downloaded the first 7 chapters for free from the authors site. Can hardly wait to start reading...

    ReplyDelete
  15. You know...I thought about the YA not being smutty enough *after* I left the comment - lol! But, if you ever get the urge, I have to recommend anything by Maggie Stiefvater - the woman is positively AMAZING. I've read Shiver (werewolves) and Lament (faeries - not the sparkly fluttery kind, but the badass ones who'll screw you over.) ;) I'm about to start the second in that series called Ballad.

Also, for you MM challenge, I'd like to recommend Brynn Paulin's Single White Knight - it's a time travel (medieval/present day) and it's phenomenal!!! It made me laugh...and cry and the sex is HOT! It's published by TEB.

    ReplyDelete
  16. OMG!!! Single White Knight...ROCKED! That is a good one to try Bron.

    Um...yes...I have a couple paranormal. :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. @Bronwyn: if I ever get the urge I'll remember Maggie Stiefvater! Thanks :) I have seen Shiver around bloglandia quite a lot...
Now, Single White Knight is one that's going straight on my list! Thanks for the rec. I've bought her Phantoms' Pleasure last weekend...

@Jambrea: Great :) I've searched the internet bookstores and I've found a few of your paranormals! It took me a while cos I couldn't find it on your blog... You made me work hard for some information *wink*... but then I remembered to check your emails and luckily I found some links at the bottom! Even Fictionwise had 2 of your titles, short ones though. I wonder why their assortment is never complete *sigh*... I'm gonna look into it more! :)

  18. OMG! I made your list!! I'm am permanently indebted! :)

I'm trying to think of cool suggestions to add to your list, but I'm several days late on these. and they'd only end up in that canned loser sound category: Fra-fra-fraaaaaaaa.

  19. Hi Mia, great to see you again!
Yep, your on my M/M Challenge and 100+ Challenge list :)
