M/M Meme: Tag – I’m it

I have been tagged by Leontine to do this M/M Meme! It’s my very first so I hope I don’t screw this up ;)

Rules:
1. Answer all the questions below in either the comments here or post it on your own site. If you post it on your own site you have to come back and give the link here so I can mosey on over and see if you have a sticky beak.
2. You have to tag two other people once you’re done and pester them relentlessly until they do the meme too.
3. Instead of a meme image thing you have to post a cookie, preferably a twofer. It is an m/m meme after all.

Questions:
1. How long have you been reading GLBTQ fiction? Since 4 months, but so far I’ve only covered the G(ay) and B(isexual) part, not yet the L(esbian), T(ransexual) and Q(ueer) part. And to be honest, they don’t appeal to me either. M/M romances do!

2. What was the first book you read in this genre? I think it was Str8te Boys by Evangeline Anderson, a rather sweet story about two (straight) friends falling in love.

3. Are you ‘out’ as a reader? Uhm, not really. In RL only my hubby knows about my smutty books, but even to him I’m not yet out as a M/M reader. Online I’m out as both…

4. Ebooks, print or both? 99% ebooks and an occasional one in print. And the rare paperback I buy is new too… I don’t want to wonder about certain stains on the pages…

5. Do you buy direct from publishers or from secondary sellers? Both.

6. Prove you’re a Book Slut. How many books would you say you buy a week? You really need proof I’m a Book Slut… ask my hubby or take a look at my credit card statements (that I tend to hide from him now and then). Oh, you need numbers? Uhm, last weekend I bought 19 books at once (and this is not a one time thing with me *blush*) In my post from November 28 I’ve listed all the books…

7. Are you a cover, blurb or excerpt buyer? Definitely a cover hussy. That’s the first thing that draws me in and next I read an excerpt if there is one.

8. Yeah, you read reviews, but do you actually take notice of them? For sure! All the great blogging reviewers out there make my TBB list longer and longer!

9. Who’s your fave publisher? Ellora’s Cave, Samhain and LooseID are the most frequent names on my credit card statements.

10. What about authors? Your top two only!! I haven’t read many of the well known M/M authors but one of my favs is absolutely Shayla Kersten, another one is Samantha Kane (although she writes M/M/F romances).

11. Is there a sub-genre you particularly dis/like? No dislikes, nope. Likes yeah, the friends become lovers theme or the straight become gay theme (or a combo of those two).

12. Short or long?? *rolls eyes* And, no, I’m not talking about cocks. Oh, in that case short… or long… doesn’t really matter, as long as the story is well developed.

13. Anything turn you off about m/m or is all just glorious smut to you? I’m quite a virgin when it comes to the smut. I recently learned that there’s a lot more to discover (check out Kris’ Firsts series at her blog) about fisting, twincests, piercings… I’m game though!

14. Finish this sentence. You know it’s m/m twu wuv when… *murmers, there’s that damn blog lingo again* I guess, when two hot guys can’t keep their hands and mouths from each other, and suffer from a little heartache when they are not together.

15. What trope or theme are you heartily sick of in m/m romance? None so far, still loving it all!

16. If you could choose any 3 characters for an m/m/m who would they be? Kade McKay (Rough Riders series – the sweetest and sexiest cowboy evah) Noah (Deviations series – hot and sweetly submissive cop) and Dean Winchester (Supernatural - funniest and sexiest hunter) Oh wait… a character from a romance, not a tv show? Well than the third hottie should be Rich Taylor (A Helping Hand – hot and adorable deputy sheriff) *sigh, what a dream team, can I join?*

17. What new GLBTQ release are you most hanging out for right now? *frantically browsing the ‘coming soon’ site pages* O Yeah, I actually was waiting for the release of Never Say Never by Jenna Byrnes (Book two in the Rose and Thorn Society Series) and … yay... it got released today!

18. What GLBTQ book has completely blown you away this year? That must have been A Helping Hand by Shayla Kersten, a great romance!

19. What do you think we’ll see more of in m/m romance in 2010? I’m not sure, but I’m afraid of the weresnakes (yep… the rattling kind) that seem to sneaking their way into romances. Let’s hope they skip the M/M romances!

20. Don’t you agree that author Josh Lanyon should kill off arsehole character Jake Riordan? *murmer* This must be a trick question… Okay, I admit it… I’ve never read a Josh Lanyon story, yet. And I’m pretty sure Jake Riordan is not in the three books I bought from this author last weekend… But let me get back on that…

Pffw, those were 20 hard questions! I hope I didn’t completely make a clean breast of it. I’m actually still on my honeymoon when it comes to losing my M/M virginity, as you all know now!

Now, I have the honor to tag two people. Although it’s hard to tell if they already have been tagged before with this meme, I pick:

Mandi from Smexybooks and
Ms Moonlight from Moonlight to Twilight Blog.

Good luck, girls!

  3. Oooooh, you have the bestest cookies. Sigh. I'm sure you'll enjoy Josh's books, I haven't tackled the Adrian English series, I live in fear of it. LOL Controvery and I usually stay on opposite sides of the room. And really, who wants to annoy Kris? ;-)

  5. You can safely annoy Kris, Tam. because she is on the other side of the globe.

Janna, don't let Kris talk you into hating Jake! There is absolutely no reason you should!

    BTW great cookies!

  6. First of all; dang, wow, that is one very, very steamy, sexy pic...dirty mind in gutter whispers; What do you give to be smack in the middle of such an embrace? Yeah I know, it's my threeway compulsion speaking!

I loved your answers and just like Mandi I want to find out what Shayla Kersten is all about ;)

  7. -Mandi: Hey girl, I know I love your men! that's why I thought of tagging you :) But I could have guessed you already did the meme ;)
I enjoyed reading Shayla Kersten's 'A Helping Hand' a lot. (it's only in ebook version though). I've got her name in my tagcloud at the sidebar. I've read a few of her books...

-MsM: that's great! Looking forward to your answers :)

    - Tam: Hey there! Welcome at my place. And feel welcome to come look at all my other cookies anytime!
LOL In fear? Really? I don't know Kris that well yet, but now you've got my trembling *wink* So it's a good thing than that I didn't buy the Adrian English series in case I might like this Jake guy, huh?
Cos I sure don't want to annoy Kris - or anyone else for that matter. I'm kinda drifting on a cloud with happiness over all them new gals I get to know these days... So, warn me if I'm stepping on somebody's toes, okay? :D

  8. -Cecile: LOL!! You're missing all the man candy, hon! Thanks :)

    -Marissa: Thanks a lot, girl!

-Ingrid: Hey girl, good to see you here too!
Thanks for the reassurance, LOL! But I think I better avoid the dis/like Jake thing by not reading the Adrian English series (yet, anyway)!! *wink* And thanks :)

-Leontine: I picked that cookie especially for you, sweetie. I knew it would spark your mind!... Into a threesome fantasy LOL!
About Shayla, look up my tagcloud... I'm curious what you or anyone else will think of her stories!! So please, give them a try... :)

Ladies, none of you knows her books?

  9. I see you are out too as a reader :)
I am pretty far from loosing my MM virginity, perhaps just some kissing as of yet lol

  10. I'm going for Shayla Kersten - A Helping Hand; this one sounds reaaaaaally up my alley and something I can apreciate!

    ReplyDelete
  11. LOL Blodeuedd, I hope the cookies didn't make you wince, hon! ;)

  12. Great job ERR!!! Seriously my credit card got such a work out this weekend at Ellora's Cave - I might has well just hand over my paycheck really.

Loved your pics they made me hot!

  13. Hey girl!! I know what you mean LOL! I was at Fictionwise this weekend, because they had a 40-50% discount on many books. So I just bought twice as much!!
Yeah, me too... and I've got a lot more of were they came from... I'll put another hot gay couple up next Friday :)
    Have a great night/day!

  14. What. The. Hell.

Tam & Ingrid, you girls are so off my Xmas list for giving peeps the wrong impression of me. So. Off.

    *deep breaths*

    *smiles sweetly*

Hey Jenna! Great answers for a self-confessed newbie. :)

"And the rare paperback I buy is new too… I don’t want to wonder about certain stains on the pages…"

Now there's a reason for buying ebooks right there. *shudders*

I don't think I've read Shayla Kersten's A Helping Hand, but I really liked her 30 Days and it's sequel Forever. Hmmm. I might need to do some shopping. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  15. *pouts* but you are my fav australian girl Kris. Next to Sean in his blue mesh

    ReplyDelete
  16. LOL!
Thanks Kris, I'm glad my answers got your approval ;) It was really fun to do this meme!

Btw My impression of you hasn't changed... :) The Firsts series are still very fresh!!... With them in mind I'm convinced that you rock girl!!

Yeah, I liked 30 Days and Forever as well! She just knows how to create a couple that is meant to be, and make that credible. A Helping Hand has my fave themes of friends becoming lovers and straight becoming straight combined. That's one of the reasons I liked that one so much.

Have a great night overthere in 'the outback' :)

  17. Love them cookies girl *still drooling***

I don't even bother to hide the credit card bill anymore - I just say they are research and I am sticking with that story..

I am a Jenna Byrnes fan girl as well - she is so a guilty pleasure author for me...

I am also a cover hussy - thankfully 90 percent of these are ebooks because then I would have some explaining to do...

    great Meme hon...

  18. Hi EH,
LOL! You're welcome, hon! I did some drooling myself!

"I just say they are research and I am sticking with that story.."
I'm gonna use that one myself! Great line... and it's not that he doesn´t benefit from the 'research'... ;)

I'm so jealous that you've already read Never say Never!! I'm gonna read your review thoroughly when I get home from work. And probably stop by Total E-Bound 'on my way home' :)

I'm so with you on the ebooks and cover thing! I travel a lot with public transport, and it's so much more comfortable with ebooks... no questioning looks and gazes LOL!

    Have a great day!!
