Happy Gay Friday & Captcha frustration

How happy I am that it’s Gay Friday again! I’ve had a couple of crazy busy weeks at work. I’ve been organizing a series of events with performances around art and religion, which drew quite a public and also the attention of the media (even from national television *gasp*). This week we had the last in the series of event days and now I hope to get my life back *g*.
By that I mean my book and blog life of course. ;)
Speaking of blog life and blog hopping: Sophia from Fiction Vixen has a post today, ‘Why I’m not commenting on Your Blog’, that could’ve been written by me (if I were as eloquent as her, that is), lol. It’s about being a comment slacker, which I definitely am, as you might know.

It’s not that I don’t want to leave a comment, I just don’t have much time (and patience) and… okay, I’m lazy… So Sophia’s reasoning that bloggers should make it easy to leave a comment speaks to me very much. Especially Captcha drives me nuts, I never get it right. A lot of Blogger sites use it and are probably not even aware of it. I turned mine off a while ago and I can honestly say that spam is caught by Blogger 99% of the time.
Something else that’s likely to drive me away, occurred today again. While I wanted to leave a comment on a blog, it made me log into a commenting system first, in this case my gravatar/Wordpress account, of which I couldn’t remember my password of course. Frustrating.

Well, making it easy to leave comments does help, but I have to be honest, it’s not going to be a guarantee that I stop being a comment slacker. Because it won’t fix my problem of chronic lack of time... Sadly.

Anyway, let’s see how much blog hopping I get done the next couple of weeks. I hope lots! :)

Happy Gay Friday everyone!

PS. There’s still time for a chance to win six ebooks from Carina Press from authors Erastes, Kim Knox, Ava March, Dev Bentham, Larry Benjamin and KC Burn.

  1. Happy Gay Friday, Janna!!

I'm with you on the slacker front. There are a few blogs I regularly comment on, but otherwise, I'm a big lurker. And you can add me to the unaware list. Didn't realize it until today when I checked. *head desk* I hate captcha, usually takes me a few tires to figure out the words, if I can figure it out. Why do they make it so hard? I just want to comment, I'm not trying to get into the UN :)

  2. Hi, Janna! I'm totally with you on that Captcha frustration. :D And the WordPress gravatar thing. That is the number one reason that stops me from commenting on some blogs -- I don't have the patience to jump through all the hoops to do so. Thanks for posting this. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way!

  3. Well, people who have WordPress blogs through WordPress itself are stuck with that mess re: the new sign-in thing. On the plus side, you can just stay signed in and it's not particularly different than before.

I don't mind captcha as much as I mind not being able to subscribe to comments via email in blogger. If people don't have embedded comments like you do, the whole subscribe to post comments via Google Reader just annoys me. :(

  4. I never remember my passwords, so I try not to empty my history cos when I do that I get so bloody annoyed.

And do not even get me started on captcha, 99% of the time I get the word wrong

  5. Wow, sounds like an exhausting if rewarding few weeks. Glad you are getting a break. Captcha does make me crazy. Half the time it's impossible to decipher their letters. But ... I soldier on. LOL

    Take care.

  6. @Ava: LOL, I bet it's actually easier to get into the UN. ;)

@Val: Yep, I'm not good at jumping through all the hoops. I rather read a book. :)

@Chris: Ah, so the Wordpress sign-in is new. I thought it was because I was using a different computer.
Yeah, not being able to subscribe to comments is annoying too. I hate getting back to a blog just to find out that there's no response yet.

@Blodeuedd: I'm really bad at remembering passwords as well. It's because I have so many different ones, lol. I'm very manic about never using the same password twice. :)

@Tam: It was rewarding but yes I'm glad I'm getting a break too. Finally time for blog stuff and participating in pron surveys. ;D

And I so hear you on commenting. I always feel so bad if I don't comment on posts :(

  8. Thanks, orannia!
I think I finally start to realize that it doesn't make a difference if I feel bad about not commenting, or not. I just try to do my best, that's all I can do. ;)
