Backblurb:
Sometimes falling in love is the most dangerous thing of all...

Blue’s a thief who lives for adrenaline and danger. When he meets Mick, a mercenary and a hitter, he feels an immediate attraction. But Mick reneges on a bet they’ve made, leaving Blue pissed and confused.
When they meet again a year later, Blue’s in terrible danger after having walked into the middle of one of Mick’s jobs. Mick saves him, and although the two men have fallen for one another, they have no idea how to handle that kind of intimacy that's been forced on them.

But when Mick goes missing on a job, Blue’s the one to go after him, determined to save the man he loves no matter the cost.

The blurb of this title intrigued me instantly and I was lucky enough to win the book in Wave's Christmas giveaway. I'm happy that the story didn't disappoint! Not at all! I loved this thrilling mix of suspense, erotica and romance. There's also enough to laugh and smile at in this fast paced story. Add two likable, sexy, unconventional and endearing main characters and the result was that I couldn't put this novel down.
Sure, the plot may be a little bit over the top here and there, but that didn't diminish my enjoyment in the least. Some twists and turns in the suspense plot line were a bit unbelievable and Mick and Blue's drug induced sex scenes were bordering on silly and incredible, but somehow it worked for me anyway. It's probably the way the story is told, with flair, humor and fabulous dialogues. And the interaction between the characters is so engaging and engrossing, that I hardly even noticed these little shortcomings while reading.

Mick and Blue are definitely characters I'd love to read an entire series about. These characters are unconventional because they balance the line or even crossed it to the wrong side of the law. However, they are far from evil, and actually have noble motives for doing what they do even if they love their criminal jobs too. They are intriguing each in their unique way, but put together they become this dynamic duo of which everyone can see that they belong together. They challenge each other and have a natural and very hot chemistry going for them.

The emphasis lies perhaps more on the eroticism than on the romance in this novel. Mick and Blue know each other from a previous job, but back then they couldn't act on their attraction for each other. Now, one year later they meet again when Blue accidentally walks into one of Mick's jobs and becomes a victim of an extreme sex drug. Mick saves him, after which they become practically inseparable. They have a lot of sex, scorching hot sex with a little bondage and spanking in the mix, while they plan on bringing down the bad guys who've drugged Blue. There's not much time for relationship talk and the circumstances force them to act quickly, so they have not much choice other than to trust each other which eventually leads to the inevitable confessions of love in the end. Not much time has passed between the first and the last sex scene, but I wouldn't call it insta-love due to their earlier mentioned history.
However, I would've loved to see more explicitly the romantic feelings develop between them, although admittedly, I wouldn't have wanted to miss out on the erotic scenes either. The only answer to my craving for more romance is probably a sequel. Let's hope Jakes agrees with me on the need for one or more sequels... (I hope they will at least make an appearance in the spin-off series Jakes is planning to write).

All I can say is don't hesitate to pick this title up. You're in for a thrilling, sweet and scorching read and if you're anything like me you won't be able to put it down, not even for a minute, once you've started reading it.
