Happy Gay Friday & Some Random Stuff

First, for those who are curious about Sharon’s interview with Abigail Roux from last Friday: Sharon already sent it to me and it is scheduled to be posted coming Wednesday! Abigail told lots of interesting things about her work and Ty & Zane from the Cut & Run series.
Also, Sharon came up with the cutest idea for giveaway prizes and she did get Abigail to sign them. :)

There will be more stuff to win! Check back Wednesday for the interview and your chance to win one of the prizes.

Today was my first day back home, after spending a week in Germany, and I’m wondering how it’s possible that I feel so wonderfully relaxed when I’m away and immediately feel the stress return once I’m home again. It’s not only the house cleaning obligations and doing the vacation laundry, it’s also the mail -and especially email-, the phone calls, the work related obligations, the appointments and other crap that’s instantly getting under my skin again. Somehow I’ve let it all build up to insurmountable heights before I left, and had forgotten all about it last week while away. It’s a weird mechanism, isn’t it?

Anyhow, this mechanism made me enjoy my week off and my time in Leipzig very much. I did read a lot and finally managed to catch up (for a great part) with the Rough Riders series by Lorelei James (not an M/M series btw). The hot and dominant cowboys were very entertaining and I read 5 books and a short story from this series in a row (I'd fallen behind big time). It’s an addictive series for sure! Not in the least because the characters from the individual books are all related to each other and we get updates on previous main characters in every next installment.

Of course, I also spent some time exploring the city. Leipzig is mainly known for its music and famous musicians, like Bach and Mendelsohn, and old great German writers like Goethe and Schiller. We had a perfect little hotel right in the middle of the old city centre, across from an old church (the Thomaskirche) and the Bach statue.
Churches and architecture are worth admiring and other characteristics of the city are the countless inner courts and passages between the old buildings, which often are turned into shopping ‘malls’. I also discovered some murals while walking the streets of Leipzig, like the political one in one of the pictures below. And I visited some historical places as well, such as the former headquarters of the Stasi, which was the ultimate espionage network of East Germany that went legs up in 1989 after the Wall between East and West came down. Here are a few pictures I took while wandering the city.

Also, the first four days there was a big beach volleyball tournament at one of the city’s largest squares, which was well organized and fun to watch. Sweaty, half naked guys combined with the sunny and warm weather made that this quickly became my favorite hangout place. ;) I took a picture on one of the more cloudy days, only to realize later that a warmer day would’ve been better for more skin exposure… Ah well. :)

Have a Happy Gay Friday!
